Ever since the day I could walk I have had a love for the
sport of basketball. Shortly after I turned two I got my first basketball and
my dad started teaching me how to dribble and shoot a basketball. When I was in
kindergarten I could finally sign up to be on a basketball team, so my parents
signed me up since I had a strong interest in the sport of basketball. At a basketball bonding party in sixth grade
one of my teammates brought over the movie Love and Basketball directed
by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Love and Basketball became my favorite movie
after I had watched it a bonding party and still is my favorite movie to this
day.
The movie Love and Basketball takes place in L.A.
where Monica moves in next door to Quincy. At the time they are both 11, and want
to play in the NBA, just like Quincy's dad. Monica and Quincy have a love-hate
relationship lasts into high school. As high school ends, they come together as
a couple, but within a year, with both of them playing ball at USC, Quincy's
relationship with his father takes an ugly turn, and it leads to a break up
with Monica.
I believe that this is a very good movie, because there is a
nice laid out story line and the actors do a very nice job of fulfilling the
characters. For example, Sanna Lathan does a wonderful job or being Monica and
Omar Epps hits the spot of being Quincy. As far as the story line goes I think
this movie emphasizes something important that not many people do. That is to “Follow
your dreams.” Another thing that makes
this movie my favorite movie is that there is a lot of information you can
learn about the game of basketball, because there is a ton of scenes where they
are actually playing basketball.

This is my favorite basketball movie by far-good choice! You do a good job summarizing the movie storyline! I too have had a love of basketball since I was young, so we have that in common. Lathan and Epps do a great job playing Monica and Quincey I thought too. When I watched the movie I think they really get into their character because they most likely have a love for the game even outside of their job of acting. I grew up on that quote by Coach Davis.. I like that you put it at the end of your blog entry.
